Description:
This is a French Ebonized and Marquetry Mantel Clock. We purchased it in Paris, France. It is in good condition. The Clock has a gorgeous Case with a Cathedral Arch Cornice supported upon beautifully turned Barley Twist Columns. The Columns have Corinthian Capitols made from Ormolu. The Case has a lovely Pattern of Marquetry embellishing it with Brass, Mother of Pearl, and Tortoise Shell Inlay. It has a lovely Foliate Scroll Work and Floral Pattern with a Central Cartouche. Gardroon Carving frames the Cornice and the top of the Apron. The Face is framed by an ornate Foliate Scroll and Floral Ormolu Mount. The Face is white enamel with Blue Roman Numerals. It has two Winding Holes, one for the Movement and one for the Bell. The Clock is stamped under the Bell. It states "Medilles D'Argent"1844-1849. One the left hand side it is stamped "Martin Paris" with the number 1286. The Clock has a lovely large, highly decorative Pendulum with an organic Floral Design. This is a very beautiful French Marquetry Louis Phillip Bracket Clock. It is uniquely designed. It will add a lovely period elegance to any room in which it is placed.
