Description: Beautiful Boehm porcelain male Hooded Merganser #496. This was issued in 1968 440 pieces were completed. The issue was closed in 1979 for a cost of $2,200 for the pair. We have the male Merganser. By 1984 7 examples appeared at auctions averaging $2,270. The average agent's appraisal value in 1984 was $1,600. That was almost 25 years ago. These rare Boehm porcelain birds are in private collections and museums. They are almost impossible to find at any price today. Pictured on Page 132 RPC-1085-01 Hooded Mergansers in The Porcelain Art of Edward Marshall Boehm by Reese Palley. Excellent condition. Widest width 14 inches, height 10-1/4 inches.
