Description:
This is a rare and beautiful Art Nouveau Copper and Brass Wine Flask, made by Bingit of Nuremberg Germany, also known as "Gebruder Bing of Nuremberg". Their famous trademark was the letters GBN enclosed by a diamond figure. Their factory and House of Jugendstil Design was established by the Bing Brothers, Ignaz and Adolf, at 1866 and lasted until 1932. At this point the Bing Family were forced to flee Germany since they were of Jewish Origin. Bingit designed and produced beautiful and elegant Art Nouveau (Jugendstil), Decorative Art Objects. These objects were made of Pewter, Copper, Brass and other metal wares. This wine flask is very beautiful example of their creativity and craftsmanship. It is an object of beauty, which resided in elegant homes for the past hundred years and is therefore used, since approximately 1900. It has a small dent in the base, which comes with a century of use. All of which adds to its character. The lid and body are of copper, while the handle and clip are of brass, the lid is completed by a brass duck shaped beak . Under the lid, there is the lower part of the beak, which is made of contrasting hammered copper, The top is covered in a hammered brass coat as well as the bottom of the flask. The materials are wonderfully, designed and intermingled, thereby creating an exciting and artistic visual effect. It stands 30.5cm or 12 inches high, its diameter is 11.4 cm or, 4.5 inches, and its widest point to the stem is 15.5 cm or 6.10 inches. The condition is quit good considering the 100 years of use.The Flask is a piece of Art from one of mankind's most artistic eras, it is also a piece of elegant history.
