Description:
This fabulous KPM porcelain plaque depicts the biblical story of the pharaoh's daughter finding Moses through adrift in a basket in shallow water on the Nile river as she peers through tall reeds. Plaque measures 12.75" by 8.75" and the frame measures 21" by 18.5" by 2.5". Plaque and frame measure a total of 7 lbs. 5 oz. We have found no artist signature. Rear of the plaque has an old paper label from Renner & Co., a gallery once at 719 6th Avenue in New York City. Gesso and gilt wood frame is very old and possibly original to the plaque. There are some losses to the gesso all all four sides. This item comes from a family who have been collecting European porcelain for four generations. It resides on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment.
