Description: This is a very nice 1939 edition of "The Bedside Book of Famous American Stories". It is "COPYRIGHT 1936, and 1939" by "RANDOM HOUSE". It measures 6.0" x 8.62". It includes 1347 pages of Famous stories by authors like Washington Irving, Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, O. Henry, Stephen Crane, Jack London, Dorothy Canfield, Thomas Beer, Wilbur Daniel Steele, Ruth Suckow, John Steinbeck, and many others, for a total of 71 stories in all, plus a section on "BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES". It is a former library book, but is in very good shape with a nice clean cloth covered hardcover, the spine has gold lettering in very good shape, and the pages are super clean and white. The only way to note this was a library book is a slight mark on the inside cover where the glue was carefully torn away when the card holder was removed, and a ink stamp on the bottom page edge marked "DISCARDED", otherwise a very nice clean book.
