Material: Bronze, old lost wax casting of copper/tin alloy
Period: 19th century, conservatively
Dimensions: 5.5" outer diameter, 3 3/8" height, 3/8" thick at overlaid designs; weight is 1.25 pounds
Condition: Exceptional - no damage or repair, strong signs of age and wear from extensive tribal use, clearly a favored old piece. Held in private collection, the condition of this anklet remains unchanged from the time of its original 1940's field acquisition. While a majority of these anklets were buried, many made their way onto family altars w they received the favored Baule libations of ground millet, egg, and blood. Make special note of the minute intricate detail - a truly spectacular specimen !
