Description:
Here is a wonderful barrister style bookcase with a slant front desk section ( with secretary) and a bottom 4 drawers unit. This unit stands about 71 inches tall. Made in 1890 by The New England Furniture Co in Grand Rapids , Mich. this unit does not stack..but ...sections slides together on sliding dovetails...completely locking everything together. This technique was guite unique but very labor intensive...so not many of these units were produced. The bookcase sections have been refinished to produce a great looking tiger stripe oak bookcase. It is hard to find barrister units that include a desk unit and a drawer unit. All the hardware is original and two of the glass panes are wavy glass. The slant front includes a side lock and key. This is truly a striking and unique antique piece for you home or office. Please email me for more information
