Condition: Exceptional. Held in a private New Mexico collection, the near perfect condition reflects the obvious high regard the original and previous owners held for this splendid piece. To our eyes, all original beads remain intact and anchored securely in place, a rarity on any African beadwork to be sure! The mother bird base carrying her young strongly suggests a fertility motif. Make special note of the perfect symmetry on this expertly executed carving, the detail given to this container speaks volumes regarding its use as a prestige object during royal and other important ceremonies - simply amazing work!
