Description: Original Southern Folk Art paintings acrylic on canvas. size 9" x 12". I'm a self taught folk artist. I was born in Mobile, Alabama and at a early age my artwork was inspired by old architecture and 19th century culture. When I was six I stared making table top Historic Villages out of clay. I also made people, period rooms & furniture inspired by the past. This is shown in my artwork today. I latter moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, a city known for it's fascinating Creole culture, antiques & old architecture. Living in the French Quarter, I created Old World style scenes. The French Quarter inspires me and influenced my artwork. My artwork is also inspired by my international travels. In 2000 I received a scholarship from the French group Old French Homes to live in a 15th century home & study sculpture in Lot,France for three months. I now live in Baltimore, Maryland because of Hurricane Katrina. Baltimore inspires me even more with it's beautiful art and architecture. I call myself a Realist Southern Folk Artist. Folk Artist because I'm self taught. Realist because my artwork is realistic in the 19th century American tradition of folk art. My artwork is inspired by my travels to Europe and historic towns in America and Mexico. In my painting and period rooms I try to show historic architecture, culture and the people of the time in period costume. In the 19th century style of American Folk Art.
