Description: In the classic manner of the Taxco maestros! … Though not marked, this breathtaking, cast sterling silver brooch boasts all the characteristics of expert Mexican silver making and design. It depicts a large, deeply curved fish, seemingly cavorting in the waves. The figural is highly detailed, from its beautifully defined and flowing fins, to its body scales, gracefully scrolled split tail, and the charming water bubble popping from its open mouth. Most likely dating from the 1940’s, this is a sublime work of wearable art, as well as a splendid collectible for aficionados of vintage silver.
