Description:
Authentic, very large Caucasian KUBA BLOSSOM CARPET with Kufic main border and saffron-yellow outer and guard borders, 6'8" x 9'11". Entirely handmade in the Caucasus from all-natural dyes and pure hand-spun wool.
Blossom carpets are considered among the oldest and most historically significant of all the Caucasian designs.
This one-of-a-kind rug is part of our "Historic Museum Collection." To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time this rug has been produced since the 17th century.
So there is absolutely no confusion, this is a new rug. IT IS NOT AN ANTIQUE. However, it was made using the same methods, materials, techniques, and traditions as its antique counterpart, and was made in the same location, Kuba.
Please note: because it takes almost an hour to shoot and process photos showing a rug front and back, up close, folded over, scrunched up, etc., please see my other listings for the Shirvan Marasali Prayer Rug, which has multiple, highly detailed photos attached. The Marasali has the same knot density, pile, feel, and construction of the rug here.
The Blossom carpet for auction here took two of my best weavers, working side by side, six months to make.
