Austrian Carved Spinach Green Stone Compote Bowl
Description: Vintage Austrian Carved Spinach Green Stone Footed Compote Bowl, Early-Mid 20th C. Austria. The bowl is comprised of two parts (bowl and foot) which have been carved from single pieces of semi-translucent spinach green jade colored stone (possibly a type of onyx) which have been glued together. The underside of the base is marked/incised: "AUSTRIA". Price Comparison: $400-600 in Fine Art & Antiques Gallery. Dimensions: 3-7/8" High, 6" Diameter. Weight: 1.7lbs. (28oz.) Condition: There is a small chip/dent along the top edge/rim of the bowl measuring 1/8" long. There are a few light/minor scratches to the surface of the stone. There is some shelf-wear (surface scratching) to the underside of the base rim. Otherwise, the bowl is in good condition.
