ROMERO BRITTO
(Born: 1963 Brazil)
Britto
as a youth began painting on bits of cardboard. His family
encouraged his
developing artistic talents early on. Later Britto would
travel to Europe and
found success in Europe. Intrigued by the works of
American Pop Artists, and
popular culture brought Britto to the United States. Britto settled
in Miami,
Florida in the late 1980?s. Here, the diverse cultural environment
and tropical
beauty reminded him of his native Brazil.
The
distinctive neo-pop style of Romero Britto has made a significant
impression on
the world of art. Britto is sometimes compared to Andy Warhol,
Roy Lichtenstein
and other contemporaries. He combines the artistic techniques
of Pop Art with
the intricate compositional qualities of Cubism.
