Description:
This is an antique chair that was carved out of old rosewood (suan-zhi). This is a piece that was made during the middle of the 19th century when people like to add marble pieces to their furniture. This particular piece was part of a dining set built using Chinese joinery techniques, making it a long lasting piece. There are numerous carvings on the backrest (dragons and marble) and skirting of the chair. The side of the backrest is carved with dragon heads. This chair is about 150 years old, built during the last few decades of the Qing Dynasty. It is a heavy piece because of the heavy hardwood and the piece of marble. We have six pieces of this, if you buy more than one piece, we can give you a discount on the pieces. There may be a variation in wood color and stone pattern.
