Description: 19th. century CE exquisite yellow-russet jade Ju Yi with intricate figural decorations of a literate under a pine tree on the head of the scepter and bamboo and pine pattern on the handle. The scepter Ju Yi (pronounced Ru Yi), was given as a gift by the emperor to dignitaries, or by a mandarin to a fidel subordinate. Size: 8.7" X 8.2" (22 X 21 cm.). Length: 11.8" (30 cm.). Width: 3.2" (8 cm.). Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of the illustrated reference book: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors".
