Description:
18th. century wood container decorated with an emerald green jadeite plaque featuring a pagoda and a coiled dragon. The box contains a very large jade seal decorated with 9 swimming dragons (symbol of imperial power) and probably belonged to an emperor of Wei period. The seal dating to Wei period has an archaic seal inscription that was not decip d. It is our opinion that this ancient jade seal represents an imperial collecting object from the personal collection of an 18th. century Qing emperor. This is an unique object of museum quality. Box length and width: 5.5" (14 cm.), height: 6" (15 cm.). Seal size: height: 3.5" (9 cm.), width and length: 3.1" (8 cm.). Estimated value: $100000.
