97 Pieces Service for 12 Elaborate Chantilly Pattern in Box
Description:
Here is a 97 piece set of sterling silver flatware in what I believe to be the Chantilly pattern made by the Frank Whitting Co. Attleboro Mass. It is an incredible set – it is a service for twelve. It has twelve of each piece included are: large forks, small forks, teaspoons, fish forks, ice tea spoons, butter spreaders, butter knives, and six steak knives. It is very unusual to find steak knives in a set like this. The serving pieces consist of: a large salad fork and spoon, a ladle, a master butter spreader, a pie slice, and a carving knife and fork. As you can see the pattern is quite spectacular, elaborate and sophisticated. Some of the pieces are monogrammed with the initial K – not all are monogrammed. And as I said earlier this is a service for twelve with only 6 steak knives which again is quite the rarity. All marked with a W for Frank & Whiting Co. They are all in very very good condition with very minor scratching. The set needs to be polished and I’m sure 90% of that would come out. And again the scratches are very very minimal. This set is housed in its original box with a velvet lining. The box is monogrammed inside Tilden Thurber. The box is mahogany with lovely rococo bronze handles and a brass plaque on the top that is not monogrammed. Circa early 1900's.
