Description: Antique looped pique earrings - made of natural substance, inlaid with gold. English, circa 1860.

Earrings are 1 1/4 inches long.

A cabochon oval shell, set with double gold bands joined to the loop that goes through the ear. Behind it is a line of 3 rings, from which 3 gradated loops hang. Each loop narrowing to a minute width at the top and widening towards the bottom. Each loop set with gold. Marvellous mottled golden honey and warm marmelade tone when seen against the light.

Very good condition.

The gold set in the shell is most likely 18 carat, while the loops that go through the earrings and rings holding the loops do not test for gold.
