Description:
WOW! Look at the fantastic applied carving on this 1890 Victorian , tiger stripe oak, halltree. The carving is thruout the entire halltree ( top, middle and bottom) and all the carving is 3/4 inch thick. There are acanthus leaf carvings, carving to create flowers and much, much scroll carving. The mirror is the original beveled mirror having been resilvered. The entire piece has been refinished in a medium dark colored oak to highlite the great tiger stripe running thruout the solid oak. There is a lift seat bench built into the halltree and the piece ends in clawfeet on the front. This halltree stands 83 inches tall and is 38 1/2 inches wide at the feet. The hooks are solid brass. This is the most ornately carved halltree I have ever owned in a large but not overpowering size. A hard to find piece!!!
