Description: This beautiful solid oak coffer was hand-crafted in England around 1890. Over the years, the oak has developed a lovely patina that enriches the distinct grain and complexion of the wood, creating a warm, lustrous appearance complemented by masterful hand-worked carvings along the front. The floating panel construction is also quite a beautiful feature, with three panels flanked by two fluted-column reliefs. With plenty of storage space, this coffer also offers exceptional utility, and would make a very unique coffee table, bench or blanket chest. Condition remains very good, with general superficial wear that is consistent with the coffer's age. The hinges are a bit worn but function well nevertheless.
