Description:
This fine card case has a rectangular, shaped form. There is profuse chased scrolling leaf and Rose decoration to either side of the card case. To the centre front is chased decoration depicting York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe. To the centre of the reverse face is a shaped vacant cartouche. The case has plain borders. This case is fitted to the original hinged leatherette and satin lined case. This card case is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition. The decoration is crisp and sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the interior rim of the body are very clear. The box is in very good condition, with the later addition of hinge reinforcement. Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this item. Height 10cm/4", Width 7.2cm/2.8", Depth 7mm/0.3", Weight 76g. Alternative images available on request.
