Description:
A good Mid 19th Century Antique Victorian Brass Bottle Chimney Spit Jack, complete with iron plate and all it's hooks and, unusually, with it's original heart shaped brass winding key. The escutcheon stamped Geo. Salter & Co. IMPROVED warranted. All complete and therefore useable, with just a small dent to the back of the case. A hard to find period accessory for the inglenook chimney of a country kitchen. Spit jacks hung in the chimney and were used to ensure that the meat, which hung from the hooks on the iron plate was evenly cooked. Having been wound up, the mechanism slowly unwound, turning the jack and thus the meat, over the fire. FREE DELIVERY WITHIN MAINLAND UK : FULLY INSURED WORLDWIDE SHIPPING VIA ROYAL MAIL AIR FREIGHT.
