Description:
Antique American tiger maple Federal dining table of solid wood (no veneer) with very bold curly striping on leaves, apron, and legs, ca. 1825. This is a genuine antique table made during the Federal Period, is not a later or modern copy. This table has a top made of single wide boards: one single 17-inch-wide board at center top, and one single board for each of the leaves. Later reproductions have tops made of several narrow strips glued together and have only a fraction of the value of a true antique. Tiger striping is far stronger than shown here, as photo lights cause haze on the crackled surface. This antique curly maple drop leaf dining table has the glorious amber color of its original crackled finish. Undisturbed hinges, prime condition with no repairs, and well-turned, graceful legs are just what the purists search for. 29-1/2" H, Top 42x41-1/2" with leaves open. This American antique table seats 4 for dining; useful also as a sofa or library table. Best of Class.
