Description: Fully hallmarked with Tiffany & Co. Makers, pattern #7853 and "M" for made between 1891 and 1895. The bowl is of flared oval shape, the body finely pierced with entwined Gothic Arch motif with pierced flared rim decorated with engraved scrolling foliage, two scroll form handles, beaded borders, the whole raised on four acanthus and paw form bracket feet. Length: 12 1/4 inches. Weight: 23 ounces Troy. Condition: Excellent. This bowl typifies the commencement of the re-introduction of Neo-classical design in America. The geometric design combined with Greek motifs would enable this bowl to blend with any type of dcor today. The bowl is quite unique because its shape doesn't limit its usefulness. This bowl could be used for not only bread, but fruit as well.
