Description:
This is a lovely sterling silver tea and coffee service by London silversmith Robert Sibley comprising coffee pot, teapot, creamer, and open sugar bowl with charming naturalistic decoration. Each piece has a rounded, lobed body and stands on a conforming circular base. Both the coffee pot and teapot have conforming, low-domed hinged lids with exquisitely modeled flower and leaf finials, elegantly inverse-fluted and curled spouts, and lovely carved wooden handles with leafy sockets. The sugar bowl and creamer each have lovely leafy scroll handles with naturalistic vegetal details. Each piece is in excellent condition and is fully hallmarked under the base included the maker's mark of Robert Sibley, the retailer's stamp of Makepiece, London. The coffee pot measures approx. 9" high, and the teapot measures approx. 6" high and 10 3/4" long over the handle, and together the set weighs approx. 75 troy ounces. This wonderful tea and coffee service is exceptionally crafted with a wonderful antique surface. The decoration is exceptionally fine and particularly charming.
