Description:
This is a handsome pair consisting of a sterling silver salt shaker and open salt by the American silversmiths at Grogan in a timeless neoclassical design. Each piece stands on a circular base; the shaker has a tall urn-shaped body with a corseted shoulder and a removable pieced high-dome lid, and the open salt has a circular bowl with deep sides. Both pieces have been decorated with neoclassical designs including strapwork-styled partial gadrooning and bellflowers, and have rims trimmed with gadrooned borders. Each piece is in excellent condition and has been finely crafted from heavy gauge silver, and the open salt is marked under the base with the maker's mark of Grogan Company, the word Sterling, and pattern number 04000. The shaker measures approx. 5 " high, and the open salt measures approx. 2" high. This lovely pair of antique silver salts would make a wonderful addition to your holiday table! A second matched pair is also available, Stock #AQ385.
