Description: Here is a truly fabulous pair of beautifully made German silver pheasant birds of the very highest quality. They are extraordinarily life-like in appearance and have been expertly captured in mid-stride, their skillfully-crafted clawed feet seeming to purposely propel them onwards. Each has exquisitely-detailed facial features and meticulously made feathers all over their bodies and culminating in elegantly- elongated raised tails. Their hinged wings are all fully-reticulated and in a most unusual and quite delightful feature, the long sweeping feathers on each of their backs, cover and conceal a good cover and sized container on each bird, A sliding hinge at the base of each tail opens and closes each container, cleverly attaching to the edges of the body feathers to close the openings and to keep the contents fresh. These beautiful birds are in excellent condition and have a lovely patina. A set of German hallmarks is stamped at the tip of one birds's tail. These are truly first-rate figural pheasants and would be the ideal additions to any traditional home. The larger of the pair measures approx. 22 1/2" from beak to the tip of the tail, the smaller is approx. 22". The heights to the tips of the tail are approx. 12" and 11" respectively. The weight is a total of 63 troy ounces.
