Description:
This is a beautiful sterling silver baby cup with wonderful exotic motifs made by a London silversmith, possibly Harry Wright Atkin. This cup has a cylindrical body with a think C-shaped handle. The body has wonderful engraved decoration of bamboo and exotic trees and leafage in a playful arrangement on a ground embellished with curl designs. Using bright-cut techniques and other texturing the decoration is both lively and intricate. The asymmetrical composition is based on the style of Japanese prints that was popular at the end of the nineteenth century. This cup is in excellent condition and has not previously been monogrammed, but would be a lovely piece to personalize. It measures approx. 3 1/4" high, and its opening measures approx. 3" in diameter. It is fully hallmarked on the body near the handle with the maker's mark HA, possibly for Harry Wright Atkin. This antique baby's cup is a versatile yet eclectic design that is truly one-of-a-kind.
