Description: For sale is an antique Sherwood Brothers stoneware jug. (incised stamp mark). This is a great old stoneware jug from the Sherwood Bros. Pottery Co., with incised mark in an oval on it. This company was only in business from 1879 to the 1940's according to Lehners Book of Marks, therefore this jug is at least 60 + years old now, if not older! It has an incised oval with the words: Sherwood Bros. Pottery Co., New Britain, PA. It is in very good condition for its age, just some faint crazing and one small pinpop hole hear the bottom of the jug. The line that appears on the bottom of the jug in the picture is not a crack, it is a raised line in the pottery itself, (shrinkage line).
