Description:
A rare Museum quality complete set. Decanter, tray and six goblets of breathtaking beauty dating from circa 1890.
Very fine pale blue "essential" glass throughout (p. 68 Venetian glass of the 1880s: Salviati at Stanford University)
High detail dolphins in clear glass embellished with gold leaf.
Every item is absolutely original with no restoration.
We attribute the dolphins to Giovanni Barovier, the master glassmaker, who worked with Dr Antonio Salviati.
Height of decanter with stopper - 15" ( 38cm )
Height of goblets - 5.5" ( 14cm )
Diameter of tray - 12.75" (32.5cm )
We have the history of this set from the 1930’s, when it was purchased from an antique shop in Venice, at great expense, then remained with the same family until we were very fortunate to make the acquisition.
We believe that this rare and breathtaking set has all the aspects of a special commission.
