Description: Antique ? 19th century/early 20th century porcupine quills Anglo-Indian trinket-jewelry-storage-cash-letters-dresser-strongbox/strong box-locking box, in an exquisitely attractive hexagonal (six/6-sided) shape, topped with an even more unusual octagonal (eight/8-sided) lid design/pattern.

Box retains a beautifully warm, golden patina, with quills being separated between ebony bars inlaid/inset with bone dots-spots-circles, while a decorative metal handle (? bronze/brass) adorns the lid/cover

Interior lid of box is further stunningly decorated with additional ebony bars and inlaid bone dots, further accented/highlighted with interspersed red lacquer atop some of the bone dots, and with a “circles-inside-of-circles” oracular-mystical-floral/flower-psychedelic swirling center spot feature design

Measuring nearly 3"H x 7" x 8", condition remains overall excellent albeit consistent with age and factors inherent with antique items of this type. There is no quill loss to any of the six sides of bands all around the box. Of the total of eight bands on the lid, five are pristinely complete & intact, with the other three exhibiting not-unusual quill loss as follows: approximately two-thirds are absent from one band, and all from the two others (there are still a handful of loose quills inside the box which can be reattached in some of the missing sections). There is also a normal, to-be-expected modicum of bone spots loss which is sporadically-located enough in a variety of areas so as to be only nominally noticeable, blending in with the sections where bone dots are still-present and overshadowing of these losses (but there are also a handful of loose bone dots still inside the box as well available for reattachment). One bar on the inside lid has become detached but remains within the box and merely needs to be reapplied.

***The original locking mechanism/fitting also remains within the box, but has also become detached, and it should be noted that there is no key
