This is a stunning imari or Gaudy pattern English antique water jug or wather pitcher made in England 1850-1870s. The hot water jug or water pitcher with lid is hand painted in the popular victorian imari pattern taken from the Japanese ceramics from the Imari region of Japan with bright cobalt blue and red with heavy gold accents, trim and interiors that is really stunning. The red earthenware clay based jug or pitcher measures 7.25 inches high by 6.5 inches long by 4 inches wide. The lid is tin with projections that fit into a hole and slot in the body of the jug to hold it. The pitcher or jug is in excellent condition with no chips cracks and only minor wear. A gorgeous example of the popular victorian imari style.
