Description:
Here is a stunning pastel on paper under glass of masterpiece quality. It is signed on the lower left Jno N. Piersche 92. The subject of this still life as you can see is grapes and fruit with a large copper ewer on a primitive harvest table – so life like and real they appear to be suspended in air. This magnificent painting is housed in a totally fabulous carved wood and gold gilded frame and overall the watercolor, the frame and the glass is in superb perfect condition. Overall it measures 40 3/8” x 56 3/8” and the sight size is 31 3/8” x 47 3/8”. Although I haven’t had much time to devote to researching this artist I did find him on the Askart web-site: he is listed as an American artist – there is no biography on the site but it appears that there is a book on this artist and that he has had museum exhibitions there just not listed here – but anyways it is nice to know that he was an American artist working around and in 1892.
