Description:
A most handsome Victorian letter rack or holder made from a solid piece of English Oak standing on it's original four brass ball feet. The wood is impressed / signed by the manufacturer W T & S for William Tonk and Sons of Birmingham, England. There are two compartments for the storage of letters and / or stationery, just as useful today as is was 100 or more years ago. Both sides of the brass mesh is mounted with a solid brass plate engraved with the word Letters with traces of the original red coloured enamelling inside. Dating to around 1890, this fine English desk accessory remains in excellent condition, measuring 7 1/8" x 3 1/2" x 7 3/4" tall.
