Description:
ANTIQUE METAL RAILROAD POSTAL TRUNK
MANUFACTURED BY
THE FREEDOM METAL CASE CO.
1194 FORTH AVE.
FREEDOM, PA
This metal suitcase was owned and used by
A. Edward Hoyt, Binghamton, New York
Good heavy metal so there is only the expected normal ware.
No holes or large dents to the metal.
Hoyt was a RailRoad Postal employee from 1904 to 1937. The trunk was used from 1920 to 1937.
A gun was also issued, but never had to be used.
This train ran between Lackawanna - Buffalo
Hoboken and Erie - Hornell
(this statement was written on a manila card found inside the trunk)
All metal, probably steel, trunk. Possibly, brass fittings and hinges. I have not cleaned anything so I am not sure about the brass.
All the fittings are in place on each corner and are tight.
Hinges and lock are in good to excellent condition however, the key was not in the box.
