Description:
This is a nice Early Stein - circa 1898. It is one of the most colorful steins! The colors are definitely deep and rich. The main body has a lot of cobalt blue and deep emerald green. The design is extremely flowing and every inch of it is covered. The central reserve on the front is what I believe to be a tavern scene at meal time (or beer time). On each side of the reserve there is a cherub – one is playing the tambourine and the other is ringing the dinner bell. This is a small size stein being marked 0.5L – for the measurement content. Although I don’t profess to know a whole lot about steins this one is seriously attractive and of very good quality. The pewter lid is decorated over every inch as well. It is marked on the bottom Germany (impressed) along with the numbers 1416. It is in extremely fine condition. The interesting thing about this stein is under the reserve you have a ribbed band with a classical decoration all around. The skirt underneath of that is all hollow on the other side. This one is a super great display piece and the artistry is certainly superb! It measures 10” at highest with a base diameter of 4 1/8”.
