Description:
An unusually large and beautiful Nepalese bronze Buddhist sculpture from Nepal. This Bodhisattva is often referred to as the Buddha of Compassion, as he was considered by Buddhists to be "the one who hears the deepest". Therefore, he saw much devotion. This bronze has its original gilding. The dimensions of this piece don't seem to indicate its very large size for a Buddha of this type. This piece WEIGHS 21 LBS. and could be the focal point in a room when placed on a table. This is not one that a collector or decorator could hope to find again any time soon due to its extremely large size. I have seen new Thai Buddhas not much larger than this offered for sale online for as much as $3000! This piece has nice oxidization and patination where the gilding has worn and the wear on the knee of the figure is probably due to the devotion of the visitor who prayed to this Avalokitesvara. This is the type Buddha that evolved into Guan Yin in China. Note that the figure is in the position of royal ease with one knee raised and a foot down. You are sure to be pleased with this one, but please note that WE GUARANTEE YOUR SATISFACTION WITH A RETURN PRIVILEGE.
