Description: Early 20th. century (Meiji- Taisho period) tanto with the scabbard and the hilt made from carved bone with relief figural design. The suspension holes are present, but without the suspending rope. There are 2 areas of bone loss on the reverse side, one minuscule, the other measures 1 cm x 0.5 cm. Single edge blade without nicks. Length: 15" (38 cm.). Blade'slength: 7" (18 cm.).
