Description: Antique Imperial Russian Navy officer Bicorn - Cocked Hat trimmed and edged with golden-brown velvet ribbon adorned on one end with a gold bullion fringe.
REFERENCES: A comparable Imperial Russian Cocked Hat is published in the book “Collecting Military Headgear. A Guide to 5000 Years of Helmet History” by Robert Attard. Page: 244-245.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 39.5 cm (15 ½ in)
CONDITION: The beaver is completely worn out, lacking front decoration, absence of interior silk lining, the skull of the hat is covered by loose black velvet most likely a later replacement. The rim of the interior has a hand written label “1810 1815?” However in our opinion this hat is from the second half of the 19th century.
