Description:
A fantastic old antique hooked rug. From the estate of Something Special in Barrington, Illinois a premier interior design shop & furniture/decorative store in a premiere, well-to-do area. The estate was filled with fine antiques of early Americana and colonial styles.
An rectangular shape with in muted beiges and natural colors. Features 8 squares each with a flower in the center. Corners also feature a small flower. This is a real understated beauty and is in keeping with all the early Americana type pieces that comprised her estate.
Dimensions: 44.25" x 23.75". So approx. 3 1/2 feet by 2 feet.
Year: Ca. 1910s-1940s.
Condition: This rug is in very good condition. There are no holes or pulls anywhere. There is a piece of mesh sewed onto the back, but it is not structural. I dont know why it is there - I like to dream that someone was hiding a large sum of cash once upon a time! There is some slight fading. It appears one side has exposure to sun. However, like with all antiques, this patina give the piece its charm and individuality.
