Description: Antique grain-painted cupboard doors from Early American built-in floor cupboard. Two grain-painted doors and 5 supporting strips rescued from demolition of 1820 farmhouse. 7 pieces in all. Large sienna and umber crotches are typical of folk art grain-painting in the heyday of early 1800s. Doors are paneled with mortise and tenon, panels framed with tiered molding. Paint is all original, no touchups. Paint is highly crackled so photos give off photo light haze. Some spattering from white paint. No hinges remain, there is wood slivering around hinge slots, and a mouse-chewed corner. More photos on request. Great find for old house restoration or for a custom cupboard.
Status: Sold Reference#: 071018
