Description: Unusual German beer stein made by Reinhold Merkelbach - a major name in ceramics - especially Jugendstil ceramics - that produced many collectable beer steins in late 1800s - early 1900s. The stein was designed in a very specific manner to mimic well known early beer vessel from 1600s called "Bartmannkrug" or "The Bearded Man Stein". It is made of stoneware with the famous Merkelbach "Koelnich Braun" glaze that became his signature glaze in the most famous Jugendstil steins. It is marked with 29 model number. Excellent flawless condition. 9" tall, 2L capacity.
