Description:
A very fine and highly decorative Early 19th Century Antique Georgian Giltwood Convex Mirror, offered here in fully restored showroom condition. Complete with lustred candle sconces and retaining it's original period looking glass, which in accordance with our museum standard conservation policy, has not been re-silvered, but retains it's antique "thru a glass darkly" effect, this imposing piece is surmounted by a carved "Eagle" finial. Mirrors of this type would originally have hung above the sideboard, thus enabling the servants to keep a sharp eye upon the overall scene whilst serving the meal. Truly a magnificent period piece.
