Description:
A large antique French Sterling Silver serving knife or slice. Rococo in design with flowing foliage, shells, roses, and a large cartouche. The finishing touch on this substantial piece …the end of the knife has been beautifully detailed with the smiling faces of cherubs or putti. Marked or punched for .950 sterling silver designated by the Minerva 1st mark, the bigorne/ counter-mark, and also bears a maker’s marks for AH. This may possibly be the mark for Alfred Hector (star and five branches 1881/1913). I can make out the star and what appears to be branches. Measurements; 11 ½” long, 1 ¾” at the widest point Weight; 135 gr approx. Condition; very good, handle is tight, no major dents. Please note the pictures do show dimples and scratches on the handle from use. Please email or call if you would like more pictures.
