Description:
A set of two French sterling silver/vermeil salt cellars with spoons in the original presentation box. The pair in a Rococo design set on four raised feet with a cartouche on two sides. The cartouches are blank, perfect for your own monogram. The original crystal liners are cut to follow the flowing edges. Matching salt spoons have a gilt wash on the bowls which have a beautiful shell motif on both sides. No details are spared on the delicate spoons, a lattice design and floral scroll work add more impact. The overall presentation, workmanship, and condition of the beautiful set make it a perfect candidate for a wedding or anniversary gift. All four pieces are marked for .950 sterling silver denoted by the Minerve 1st. Titre mark and the the French silversmith Coignet (Plassait, was the successor), 9 place des Vosges, Paris, 1880’s-1920. Condition; very good; silver has minor surfaces scratches in accordance with age and use, gilt in very good with minor loss, crystals liners are very good, no chips or cracks noted. The presentation box is also in very good condition, minor scuffing, satin and velvet lining is quite clean and in good condition.
