Antique French Ormolu & Cut Glass Jewelry Box, C.1900
Description: Antique French Ormolu & Cut Glass Jewelry Box, C.1900. The rectangular table/jewelry casket box is fitted with gilt brass rims and the surface of the glass is cut/molded with a quilted diamond pattern. The piece is not signed or marked. Price Comparison: $600-800 in Fine Art & Antiques Gallery. Dimensions: 4-1/2" High, 5-1/4" Wide, 3-3/8" Deep. Weight: 3.27lbs. (52oz.) Condition: There is some oxidation/wear to the surface of the gilt brass mounts. The back edges of the brass rims are bent along the hinge. There is some glue residue along the edges of the brass mounts. There are some small surface chips/nicks along the edges of the cut glass pattern to the surface and along the base edge of the glass box. There is some shelf-wear (surface scratching) to the underside/base of the box. Otherwise, the piece is in good condition.
