Description: Antique French Machine Made Tapestry Depicting a Medieval Scene in the Forest. – Very Good Antique Condition (one minor well done repair to bottom-see photo)– Lined – Circa 1900. This small antique French machine made tapestry in all shades of greens, roses, reds, golds and browns depicts a man and two women in medieval clothing collecting, carding and spinning wool from the gentle looking lambs in a forest. There are pomegranate trees, ferns, multiple flowers, and two birds. This scene’s symbolism has many interpretations, depending upon which category is researched, but generally, it depicts purity.
