This rug is just so gorgeous! What beautiful vibrant colors. It is just amazing.
Dimensions: Roughly 72" x 31"
Features:
- Bright vibrant colors
- Hooked with yarn as well as fabric pieces
- Hooked on burlap
- Dark heather gray border with large floral (roses?) corners
- Large floral spray in center of rug with crimson red and periwinkle blue flowers
- Backing is burlap that is covered with a finish cloth
- Very well made with a nice weave and a real eye for color and design
Age: late 1800s , perhaps 1860s - 1890s. Late 19th century rugs reflected the Victorian love of vivid color, sometime garish, and large scale designs. Large floral sprays were also very popular during this time.
Condition: Excellent for age. There are no frayed edges. The backing fabric is starting to come off (see photos). There is one spot where there is a pulled thread. There may be 1 or two more, but as you can see, very minor problem on this gorgeous rug.
