Description:
This beautiful walnut bureau was hand-crafted in England around 1960. Over the years, the wood has developed the beginnings of a lovely patina, and as time passes the patina will continue to enrich the walnut's distinct grain and warm, lustrous complexion. Solid-brass teardrop pulls complement the walnut beautifully, while elegant cabriole legs ending in ball-and-claw feet provide strong support. Each of the three drawers features dovetailed drawer joints, indicating fine craftsmanship, while the fall locks with an accompanying key. In the desk section of this bureau--often called a secretary--there is a leather writing panel, several compartments and a single drawer. Over the years, this bureau has sustained some wear, most noticeably a few tiny paint splashes as well as stress marks. Nevertheless, this is still quite an attractive bureau and it remains in very good overall condition. Whether you are looking to add a new decorative English antique to your fine furniture collection or to acquire the full functionality of a fine bureau, this is the piece for you!
