Item Description:
This is a gorgeous antique English solid dark oak barley twist carved Gothic revival occasional arm chair. It features a gorgeous slat back richly decorated with pierced carvings that include foliage with branches and scroll accents and it has gorgeous barley twist stiles with exquisite finials on top. Its seat is large and it has decorative carvings around it. In addition, it has block arm rests with very unique dragon-like carvings on the hand rests. The chair has traditional seat rails with beautiful vase and block legs decorated with floral carvings and it has a barley twist H stretcher. It may show minor age appropriate wear including a wood separation on its seat which doesn’t affect its function at all otherwise it is overall in very good cosmetic and structural condition considering its age, circa 1880, and though its joints are slightly loose it is strong and sturdy enough for everyday use. This is an outstanding piece of furniture that will be cherished at home for many years to come!
